Six Renewal by Andersen Locations Receive 2016 Community Leadership Award
The Moore Group’s locations honored at national Renewal by Andersen Retailer Summit for its work with K9s for Warriors
Cottage Grove, Minn. (Feb. 8, 2017) – On Jan. 30, 2017, The Moore Group’s six Renewal by Andersen locations were awarded the 2016 Community Leadership Award at the 2017 Renewal by Andersen Retailer Summit in Huntington Beach, Calif.
Each year, Renewal by Andersen awards the Community Leadership Award to a location or group of locations that contributed significant time, talent and resources to people in need in their communities.
This year, six locations that worked in collaboration were recognized for their work with K9s for Warriors, a nationwide organization dedicated to providing service canines to veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and/or military trauma as a result of military service post-9/11.
The Moore Group operates the six locations, including Renewal by Andersen of New Jersey-New York Metro, Renewal by Andersen of Long Island, Renewal by Andersen of San Francisco, Renewal by Andersen of Los Angeles, Renewal by Andersen of Orange County, and Renewal by Andersen of Toronto, which raised a combined total of $185,000 to support this important cause.
“Our employees have always felt that support and respect for our service veterans is an important responsibility of all Americans,” said David Moore, principal owner of The Moore Group. “Our many service veteran employees, relatives of employees and customers have always had our greatest admiration, respect and gratitude. We’re proud to support such an important organization like K9s for Warriors.”
From coast to coast, the locations hosted a total of 24 fundraising events to support K9s for Warriors – from large-scale events like a comedy show and a fundraiser at the Pirelli World Challenge at the Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway, to office costume contests, raffles, garage sales and personal financial contributions. Veterans were invited to the events so employees could meet them face-to-face and thank them for their service.
“Giving back to the communities where we live and work is a cornerstone of our values at Renewal by Andersen,” said Renewal by Andersen President Paul Delahunt. “We are proud of our locations for working together to positively impact their communities.”
The goal of K9s for Warriors is to empower veterans to return to civilian life with dignity and independence. The dogs are evaluated and trained rescue animals, meaning two lives are saved with each pairing. Each dog used in the program is carefully selected and extensively trained at no cost to the veteran. K9s for Warriors also provides the veterans with ongoing support for life. To date, more than 272 service dogs have graduated the program and been paired with veterans.
The money raised by the six Renewal by Andersen locations will support the organization and help train more dogs. Andersen Corporation is also donating $5,000 to K9s for Warriors as a part of its corporate giving program.
