Building Bolder
Renewal by Andersen of the Greater Twin Cities provides new windows for youth mentorship program facility.
When Bolder Options needed a helping hand improving their historic building, Renewal by Andersen of the Greater Twin Cities stepped up.
Bolder Options is a Minnesota-based nonprofit that provides wellness-based mentoring for middle school youth, age 10 to14 years old. The program matches youth who need support with volunteer mentors who meet with them every week for a year. Throughout their year together, participants focus on holistic personal development through weekly activities hosted by staff.

The Twin Cities facility where program participants can go to do homework, cook and share food, do yoga, meet with their mentors, and more. The building also still had all its original windows. Those original 125-year-old windows were way past their prime and no match for modern needs. They were inefficient, difficult to operate, and used archaic technology.
With the help of our Renewal Cares program, RbA of the Greater Twin Cities donated and installed 56 energy-efficient windows and a back patio door, bringing fresh light, warmth, and charm back to the building. This upgrade was especially meaningful for Nate Peterson, Senior Sales Manager at Renewal by Andersen of the Greater Twin Cities and former mentor with Bolder Options. For Peterson, who helped facilitate the initiative, the project went beyond improving a building—it was about compassion and creating opportunities for brighter futures for at-risk youth.
From mentoring sessions to academic support, their headquarters serves as a vital safe space for growth and connection. The new windows provide a more comfortable, welcoming, and inspiring environment for everyone who walks through their doors.
“It’s a godsend,” said Darrell Thompson, CEO of Bolder Options. “The Renewal by Andersen windows are extremely impactful to Bolder Options in our community here. It'll make a really big difference.”
Way to make a powerful impact, Greater Twin Cities team!
