A third-generation home improvement professional, Laurie has a passion for remodeling that was that unearthed while remodeling her own 1920’s Spanish style home. Seeing the challenges firsthand, the entrepreneur took over, and in 2005, she founded her own project management and design firm. Known for her unique approach to project managing and remodeling, she focuses on overseeing both the emotional and the tactical aspects of a design project.
Laurie March's Spanish Bungalow
When designer and stylist Laurie March set about remodeling her own 1920’s Spanish style home, she knew she wanted to take advantage of her beautiful courtyard views and that wonderful southern California breeze, so she called Renewal by Andersen to help. That first project was the start of a great partnership between the designer and the brand, and remains one of our favorite collaborations.
It can be hard to imagine how windows are going to change the look of your home, even for the most seasoned design pros. Fortunately, Laurie's design consultant used our Augmented Reality tool, and Laurie was able to see exactly what her doors and windows would look like in her home, in real time.
The AR tool, she says, has definitely been a disruptor in the home improvement space. "Homeowners gain so much confidence by seeing renderings of their projects. Making changes can be tough to picture...[so] when you can actually see how new windows will look in your home, with your own décor - it's inspiring! A true look at whether a picture window or two casements works better with the view of your back yard, or how tweaking a grille pattern can totally change your curb appeal…That's huge when it comes to making—and loving—your design choices."

Laurie wanted to take advantage of her beautiful courtyard views and that wonderful southern California breeze, so her project included both casement windows and a patio door that doubles as a window wall. She went with a equal lite grille pattern for both. The unfinished wood interior will allow her to paint them her favorite color; the black exterior makes a design statement.
With expansive, uninterrupted glass area and top-to-bottom ventilation when cranked open, casement windows are beautiful, as well as energy efficient. In addition, being able to customize their grille patterns means they can mimic double-hung windows elsewhere in the home, and are also a good choice for restoration or renovation where consistency and architectural match are important.
