Renewal by Andersen® Windows and Doors Meet New 2010 ENERGY STAR® Performance Criteria

Cottage Grove, MN (January 22, 2010) - ENERGY STAR enacted more stringent performance requirements for windows and doors to qualify as ENERGY STAR effective January 4, 2010. Renewal by Andersen, the start-to-finish window replacement subsidiary of Andersen Corporation, is pleased to offer homeowners an extensive selection of windows and patio doors that meet the new 2010 ENERGY STAR performance criteria, helping consumers save money, energy and be more comfortable in their homes.

ENERGY STAR performance requirements vary by climate zone. Under the new guidelines, windows and doors that carry the ENERGY STAR logo will be required to meet more stringent U-Factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) requirements within these climate zones across the country. U-Factor indicates how well a product prevents heat from escaping and SHGC measures how well a product blocks heat caused by sunlight. Windows and doors that have earned the ENERGY STAR label and meet these new performance requirements can help reduce your energy bills and increase your home’s comfort.

“Renewal by Andersen offers homeowners the easiest way to purchase energy efficient replacement windows,” said Paul Delahunt, president of Renewal by Andersen. “All you need to do is look for the ENERGY STAR® label on Renewal by Andersen® windows and doors to know you are getting a product that meets the new 2010 ENERGY STAR energy efficiency performance standards, making a big impact on reducing your energy bills.”

In addition to meeting the new ENERGY STAR requirements, virtually all Renewal by Andersen windows qualify for new federal tax credit of up to $1,500 that runs through the end of 2010.* Homeowners interested in learning more about which Renewal by Andersen products are eligible for the tax credit should visit www.renewalbyandersen.com.
